Honesty

Today we continue our series entitled, “Grace and Truth” by continuing to look at by continuing to look at The Law given under Moses vs. the Grace provided by Jesus. Our main scriptures are John 1:14 & 17. Let’s look at them again.

(Prov 26:23-26 GNB) Insincere talk that hides what you are really thinking is like a fine glaze on a cheap clay pot. A hypocrite hides hate behind flattering words.

This morning we get back to our series entitled, “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God.” Solomon hated liars. Time and time again he tells us not to lie, especially not about others.

(Prov 25:14 NLT) A person who promises a gift but doesn’t give it is like clouds and wind that bring no rain.

(Prov 25:9,10 GNB) If you and your neighbor have a difference of opinion, settle it between yourselves and do not reveal any secrets. Otherwise everyone will learn that you can’t keep a secret, and you will never live down the shame.

(Prov 25:5,6 GNB) When you stand before the king, don’t try to impress him and pretend to be important. It is better to be asked to take a higher position than to be told to give your place to someone more important.

(Prov 24:28,29 GNB) Don’t give evidence against others without good reason, or say misleading things about them. Don’t say, “I’ll do to them just what they did to me! I’ll get even with them!”

(Prov 24:23-26 CEV) Here are some more sayings that make good sense: When you judge, you must be fair. If you let the guilty go free, people of all nations will hate and curse you.

(Prov 23:10-11 GNB) Never move an old property line or take over land owned by orphans. The LORD is their powerful defender, and he will argue their case against you.
