(1 Thes 5:17 NLT) Never stop praying.
This morning we continue our series entitled, “Re-Energizing Your Prayer Life,” by continuing to look at “What to Pray For.” This is the last example prayer I will provide. Starting next week I will get back to teaching on prayer. If you have been getting Today’s Word for any length of time you should know how important your words are. Good or bad, you will have what you say. This is a prayer to take control of your tongue and to release the power of your words.
Your Tongue and Your Words:
Father, I come to You in the name of Your Son and my Lord, Jesus the Christ. I have access to You through Jesus and I am thankful for it. This morning I reaffirm the fact that I am a new person in Christ Jesus, and because You have made me new, I receive Your help, by faith, to change my vocabulary to one that lines up with Your Word and that is pleasing in Your sight.
Help me Father to speak only excellent things that bring glory to Your name. Your Word teaches me that speaking wickedness is literally an abomination to my lips. So I refrain from speaking preserve words that tear down and hurt. I use my lips for Your glory. I speak the truth in love and my words are a blessing to every person I release them to and over.
My lips feed many because I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. My tongue is as choice silver and my mouth brings forth wisdom. I have been justified and declared righteous; therefore I will speak righteousness daily. My lips know what is acceptable; therefore they are quick to speak blessings and never cursing. I am a delight to You Father, because I deal uprightly and I speak to truth. Wisdom is found in my lips because I have understanding. Instead of being a witness against me, my words preserve me.
Thank You Father for blessing me to possess and use a wholesome tongue. My tongue is a tree of life. Pleasant words are always in my mouth and they are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, health to my bones, and life to all those who hear them. You give me wisdom Father, so that my words are as deep waters and as a wellspring of wisdom.
Father, You have taught me that death and life are in the power of my tongue. I choose to speak life and life only. Therefore, I will not allow any corrupt communication to proceed out of my mouth. I will not speak evil to or of any man. My mind is renewed to align with the Word of God. I think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of a good report. I have the mind of Christ and Your wisdom Father. With all these things going on inside of me, when I open my mouth You are able to use my words to edify and to minister grace to the hearers. Thank You Father for blessing me to get a hold of my tongue, to speak words of life, and to have what I say. I pray this by faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
