Discovering Destiny (Part 81): Your Name Will Come Up In The Right Room

Today, we continue our focus on THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, as we learn to maintain our posture of faith after God has revealed His plans for our future. Yesterday, a proud king looked up and was restored. Today, a new king sits on the throne, and Daniel is nowhere in the room. But destiny does not need a seat at the party to show up on time.
Key scriptures for this year:
2 Peter 3:18 GNT
"But continue to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever."
Luke 10:20 Mirror
"It's time for you to rediscover who you are from Heaven's perspective."
1 John 3:10 Mirror
"There is a very visible and vast difference between living one's life from your God identity or from a fallen man's mindset."
Proverbs 25:2 NKJV
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter."
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
Scripture(s) we will study today:
Daniel 5:1-4 TPT
"When Belshazzar was king, he invited a thousand of his nobles to a state banquet, where the wine flowed freely among all his guests. While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver vessels that his predecessor Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple of Jerusalem. He was wanting to drink from them along with all his guests, his nobles, his wives, and his concubines. So they brought in the sacred gold vessels that were seized from the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king, his nobles, his wives, and his concubines all drank from them. As they all drank their wine, they praised their man-made gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone."
Daniel 5:5-6 NLT
"Suddenly, they saw the fingers of a human hand writing on the plaster wall of the king's palace, near the lampstand. The king himself saw the hand as it wrote, and his face turned pale with fright. His knees knocked together in fear and his legs gave way beneath him."
Daniel 5:7-8 NLT
"The king shouted for the enchanters, astrologers, and fortune-tellers to be brought before him. He said to these wise men of Babylon, 'Whoever can read this writing and tell me what it means will be dressed in purple robes of royal honor and will have a gold chain placed around his neck. He will become the third highest ruler in the kingdom!' But when all the king's wise men had come in, none of them could read the writing or tell him what it meant."
Daniel 5:10-11 NLT
"But when the queen mother heard what was happening, she hurried to the banquet hall. She said to Belshazzar, 'Long live the king! Don't be so pale and frightened. There is a man in your kingdom who has within him the spirit of the holy gods. During Nebuchadnezzar's reign, this man was found to have insight, understanding, and wisdom like that of the gods. Your predecessor, the king, your predecessor King Nebuchadnezzar, made him chief over all the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and fortune-tellers of Babylon.'"
Daniel 5:12 AMPC
"Because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, clarify riddles, and solve knotty problems were found in this same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation."
Supporting scriptures:
Judges 2:10 NLT
"After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel."
Psalm 78:4 NLT
"We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders."
Isaiah 49:15-16 TPT
"But how could a loving mother forget her nursing child and not deeply love the one she bore? Even if there is a mother who forgets her child, I could never, no never, forget you. Can't you see? I have carved your name on the palms of my hands! Your walls are always my concern."
Psalm 37:7 NLT
"Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes."
Proverbs 22:1 ERV
"It is better to be respected than to be rich. A good name is worth more than silver or gold."

Proverbs 18:16 AMPC
"A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men."
Setting the Stage:
More than twenty years have passed since Nebuchadnezzar looked up to heaven and gave glory to the Most High God. That king is gone. A new king sits on the throne of Babylon, and his name is Belshazzar. One night, he threw a party for a thousand of his nobles, and the wine flowed freely. Then, with the wine in his head, he gave an order nobody in Nebuchadnezzar's last years would have dared to give. "Bring in the gold and silver vessels" from the temple in Jerusalem. The cups that had been set apart for the worship of God were passed around the room, and the king, his nobles, his wives, and his concubines drank from them while they praised gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.
And where was Daniel? He was not at the party. He was not on the guest list of a thousand. The man who had interpreted the dreams of the greatest king on earth and once ruled over every wise man in Babylon had been set aside. Daniel was an old man now, and the new king did not even know his name.
Then, in the middle of the party, the fingers of a human hand came out of nowhere and started writing on the plaster wall (this is where we get the phrase: the writing’s on the wall), right by the lampstand where everybody could see it. The king watched the hand write. His face went pale, his knees knocked together, and his legs gave way. He shouted for the enchanters, the astrologers, and the fortune-tellers, and he offered purple robes, a gold chain, and the third highest seat in the kingdom to anyone who could read the writing. Not one of them could.
That is when the queen mother walked into the banquet hall. She had been around long enough to remember. She said, "There is a man in your kingdom." She told the king about the spirit of God in him, about the dreams he explained, and about "an excellent spirit" that Nebuchadnezzar saw in him. Then she said the words that changed the night: "Now let Daniel be called." Here is what I want you to see today: a new king can forget your name, but he cannot erase your destiny.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. Don't Let What God Did For You Stop With You.
Think about everything Nebuchadnezzar learned. God showed him a dream, rescued three men from a fire, and then humbled him in a field for seven years until he said, "His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal." That was the testimony he sent to the whole empire. But one generation later, the new king grabbed the cups from God's house and used them to toast idols. It is obvious that Nebuchadnezzar learned his lesson, and it is just as obvious that he did not pass it on. The Bible describes the same tragedy in Israel: "another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done." What God did in your life is part of somebody else's destiny.
How this applies to you:
-- What God taught you was never meant to stop with you. Part of your destiny is passing down the lessons you have learned to the generation coming after you, so they can discover their destiny as well.
-- Nebuchadnezzar's testimony went out to the whole empire, but it never seemed to make it to his own palace. Win the world if God gives you the world, but don't lose the people under your own roof.
-- The psalmist said, "We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord." Tell your story at home, and tell it often.
-- Belshazzar took what God called holy and treated it like a party cup. He disrespected God, and so the writing was on the wall.
-- When you forget what God did, you start to treat holy things like common things. Guard your worship, your Word, and your walk with God, because familiarity is the pathway to disrespect.
-- As much as I teach and preach about the grace of God, the goodness of God, and the love of God, we must never forget the fear of the Lord. A healthy dose of reverential fear will keep us in a posture of honor and not familiarity.
-- Your destiny was planned before you were born, and part of that plan is the generation coming after you. Make sure your children, your grandchildren, and the people you mentor know three things: 1) There is a God, 2) we are NOT Him, and 3) we NEED Him!
2. Being Set Aside Does Not Mean You Are Done.
Picture this. A thousand people were invited to the king's party, and Daniel was not one of them. He had served Babylon faithfully for decades. He had interpreted dreams nobody else could interpret, and he had been the chief over every wise man in the kingdom. Now he was an old man, and the new king did not know who he was. There had to be moments when Daniel thought, "I gave this kingdom my whole life, and now nobody even calls my name." But Daniel did not go to war over his position. He did not start a campaign to get his job back. He trusted God and held his peace.
How this applies to you:
-- People can set you aside, but they cannot set aside God's plan for your life.
-- Daniel was taken to Babylon as a teenager in 605 BC, and this banquet happened in 539 BC, 66 years later. That made him about 80 years old the night the king called his name. You are never too old to manifest God’s destiny for your life.
-- New leaders bring new changes (we just had a midterm election that will most certainly bring changes to the USA). When a new leader takes over, some of those changes may be good for you, and some may not. But none of them can cancel what God destined for you.
-- When you are destined by God, you don’t need a seat at the party to show up on time. People who didn’t add you to the list will end up calling for you because of what is ON your life!
-- Being overlooked by people is not the same as being overlooked by God.
-- God said, "I have carved your name on the palms of my hands!" Your name is not on a guest list; it is in God's hands.
-- David said, "Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act." Waiting on God is not wasted time. It is trusting time.
-- You may be out of sight, but you are never out of God's mind! God is thinking about you, and He is still working to make sure His destiny for your life is manifested while you're in the land of the living.
3. A Good Name Will Speak For You When You Cannot.
Daniel was not in the banquet hall, but his reputation was. The queen mother walked in and said, "There is a man in your kingdom." Then she gave the king Daniel's whole résumé: insight, understanding, wisdom, the spirit of God in him, and "an excellent spirit." Daniel never wrote a letter of recommendation for himself. He never asked anybody to put in a good word for him. He just lived his life with excellence and integrity before God, year after year, under good kings and bad kings. So when the crisis came, somebody remembered. Solomon said, "A good name is worth more than silver or gold."
How this applies to you:
-- Never allow unfavorable conditions to cause you to violate your character, because your character needs to be intact for the moment you get the call!-- Daniel's character kept his destiny ready while he waited.
-- Your name will come up in rooms you will never walk into, and what you don't want to do is be so upset about the fact that you were never in the room that you're not ready when you get the invite.
-- Daniel did not build his reputation the night of the party. He built it over a lifetime of faithfulness. A reputation is not made in a moment.
-- The queen mother did not remember Daniel's title. She remembered his spirit. Titles change with every new king, but an excellent spirit goes with you everywhere.
-- Excellence is not perfection; it is God's grace on your work.
-- You don't have to promote yourself when you are living a life that promotes God.
-- God planned your destiny before you were born, and He will make sure the right people remember your name at the right time.
4. When It Is Your Time, The Blessing Will Come Looking For You.
Here is the part I love. All the king's wise men came in and failed. The king was out of answers, his nobles were confused, and the party was falling apart. Then somebody said, "Now let Daniel be called." Daniel did not knock on the palace door that night. The palace came knocking on his.
How this applies to you:
-- The Blessing knows your address.
-- Daniel did not have to chase the blessing; the Blessing chased him. Solomon said, "A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men." That night was not luck. That was destiny keeping its appointment.
-- When everybody else runs out of answers, God will make sure somebody says your name.
-- Solomon said, "If you are uniquely gifted in your work, you will rise and be promoted. You won't be held back, you'll stand before kings!"
-- If you are in business, the grace of God will cause contracts and opportunities to come looking for you.
-- If you are building a career, God will make sure your name comes up in front of senior leaders. Promotion comes from God!
-- God's timing is perfect. Habakkuk said, "For it will surely come right on time."
-- Your destiny is not running from you; it is looking for you. Keep being who God made you to be, and the door He planned for you before you were born will open right on time.
That's enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You that what You have done for me will not stop with me!
I will tell the next generation what You have done!
I treat what is holy as holy!
People may set me aside, but You never forget me!
My name is carved on the palms of Your hands!
I will not fight for my position, I will trust You and rest!
My good name speaks for me in rooms I have never entered!
I walk with an excellent spirit, by Your grace!
My gift makes room for me and brings me before great men!
The Blessing is looking for me, and it will find me right on time!
My destiny was planned before I was born, and no king, no season, and no age can cancel it!
In THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus' name. Amen!
This is Today's Word. Apply it and prosper!
