This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair. So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”

(Prov 28:15 GNB) Poor people are helpless against a wicked ruler; he is as dangerous as a growling lion or a prowling bear. This morning we continue our “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God” series. We must remember that the person writing this verse is a sitting King. As a King Solomon was a sovereign and supreme ruler, he had no checks or balances, and his word was always the final word.

(Prov 28:12 NLT) When the godly succeed, everyone is glad. When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding. This morning we continue our “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God” series. Solomon here speaks to the reaction other people have to our success. What do you want that reaction to be? For example, this week my promotion board met and the decision was made on whether or not I will get promoted to Chief Warrant Officer Five.

(Prov 28:2 MSG) When the country is in chaos, everybody has a plan to fix it—But it takes a leader of real understanding to straighten things out.

(Luke 11:1 NLT) Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As He finished, one of His disciples came to Him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

(John 5:19 NLT) So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself. He does only what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”

This morning we take a pause from our Proverbs series for a special message. Yesterday was September 11, 2011, the day that marked the 10 year mark since our lives changed forever.

(Prov 26:12 GNB) The most stupid fool is better off than those who think they are wise when they are not.

This morning we continue our series entitled, “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God.” The first 12 verses of this chapter deal with fools.

(Prov 26:6 GNB) If you let a fool deliver a message, you might as well cut off your own feet; you are asking for trouble.

This morning we get back to our series entitled, “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God.” Back in chapter 16 Solomon said something very similar, saying: “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city” (v32).

(Prov 25:25 NIrV) Hearing good news from a land far away is like drinking cold water when you are tired.

(Prov 25:22 NLT) You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the LORD will reward you.

This morning we get back to our series entitled, “Unlocking the Power of Proverbs – Walking in the Wisdom of God.” Solomon tells us something this morning that many of us need to hear, but a good portion of us don’t like to hear and that is about patience.

(Prov 25:4,5 NLT) Remove the impurities from silver, and the sterling will be ready for the silversmith. Remove the wicked from the king’s court, and his reign will be made secure by justice.

(Prov 25:3 NIrV) The heavens are high and the earth is deep. In the same way, the minds of kings are hard to figure out.
