Grace in Galatians (Part 80): Why God Wants You Rich But Most Fight It

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.
As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians.
Key scriptures for this year:
(2 Corinthians 9:8 TPT)
"Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do."
(Galatians 5:4 TPT)
"If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!"
(Romans 6:14 ERV)
"Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God's grace."
(1 Corinthians 15:10 CEV)
"But God treated me with undeserved grace! He made me what I am, and his grace wasn't wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God's grace at work and not me."
Scripture we will study today:
(Joshua 1:8 NIV)
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
(Psalm 1:3 NIV)
“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
(3 John 2 KJV)
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Setting the Stage:
This week, we’ve taken a journey that many preachers avoid. We started by examining a shocking reality: Christians make up 28.8% of the world’s population while Jews represent only 0.2%, yet the Jewish community has disproportionate influence in business, education, and wealth creation. This led us to ask the hard question: If we’re truly Abraham’s heirs through Christ, why don’t we live like it?
On Tuesday, we broke the doctrine of escapism that has taught Christians to endure earth while waiting for Heaven, when Jesus actually commanded us to “Occupy till I come!” We learned that this theology of escape has caused us to abandon our mandate to build, create, and establish Kingdom influence on earth.
On Wednesday, we demolished the poverty-equals-holiness deception that came from religious tradition, particularly the Council of Trent’s institutionalization of poverty as spiritual virtue. We declared that “Obedience is holy, not lack!” You can be broke and disobedient or wealthy and obedient!
Yesterday, we learned from Abraham’s natural seed through Rabbi Daniel Lapin’s insights about the three pillars of Jewish thinking: Wealth equals covenant responsibility, Education equals duty to God, and generosity equals worship.
But here’s what I need you to understand: This is not about money. It’s about identity. You are an heir. You are Abraham’s seed. You are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. You have access to the same covenant that has prospered the Jewish people for 4,000 years, PLUS you have something they’re still waiting for: the Messiah living inside you!
Today, I will close out the week driving home the mindset that is OPEN to whatever God wants to do, however He wants to do it. I will also address the difference between Biblical prosperity and the prosperity gospel. In my mind, the difference is simple: Biblical prosperity is about fulfilling purpose, not accumulating possessions. It’s about being blessed to be a blessing, not blessed to be consumed by your possessions. It’s about funding the Kingdom, not building your kingdom.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. Your Identity Determines Your Destiny, Which Is Why God Wants You To Think Like the Heir You Are.
Everything starts with identity. You can’t live out what you don’t believe about yourself. If you see yourself as a spiritual beggar, you’ll live like one. But if you know you’re an heir of God and co-heir with Christ, your entire life trajectory changes!
How this applies to you:
— Stop introducing yourself by your problems and start introducing yourself by your position! Instead of “I’m struggling,” say “I’m an heir of God working through a temporary situation.” Your confession will impact your condition!
— Wake up every morning declaring your identity before you check your circumstances! Before you look at your bank account, look at your covenant account. Before you count your problems, count your promises. Start your day from position, not problems! You must be settled in your heart concerning WHO YOU ARE!
— You’re not trying to become blessed; you already ARE blessed! Ephesians 1:3 says you’ve been blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in Christ. The work isn’t getting blessed; it’s learning to walk in the blessing you already have!
— Think ownership, not employment! Even if you are working a job, remember that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills and you are working for Him. But the difference is that you are not God’s employee; you’re His family! This mindset will help you change the way you see yourself and your future.
— If you don’t know who you are, your identity crisis will cost you more than just money; it will cost you the influence God wants (and needs) you to have! When you don’t know who you are, you can’t be who you’re called to be. Identity confusion creates destiny dilution! You are living beneath your calling!
— You have the same covenant rights as Abraham PLUS the Holy Spirit! Abraham didn’t have the Spirit living inside him, but you do! You have every advantage Abraham had and more!
— Stop asking God to do what He’s already done! He’s already blessed you, already provided for you, already given you everything pertaining to life and godliness. Your job isn’t to get Him to act; it’s to believe He already has! This mindset leads to a life of faith; your faith will tap into God’s grace, and your life will never be the same!
2. Reprogram Your Mind from Scarcity to Abundance.
Romans 12:2 commands transformation through mental renewal. You’ve been programmed for poverty by religion, but you must be reprogrammed for prosperity by revelation! This isn’t positive thinking; it’s covenant thinking!
How this applies to you:
— Replace “just enough” with “more than enough”! God is El Shaddai, the God of MORE than enough! Stop praying for just enough to get by when God wants to give you enough to be a blessing! Abundance isn’t excess; it’s God’s standard!
— Change your vocabulary from “I can’t afford it” to “How can God provide it?” The first statement shuts down faith; the second activates it. Your vocabulary either limits or launches your faith!
— Stop saying “Money doesn’t grow on trees”! Actually, it does; paper money is made from trees! But more importantly, God owns all the trees! Every limitation you speak becomes a law you live under!
— Don’t ever say, “We’ve never had money in our family.” You’re in a NEW family now! You are part of God’s family! The limitations of your natural family do not have anything to do with the abundance and provision of your spiritual family. Generational curses are broken by generational covenant!
— Replace fear of lack with faith for abundance! Instead of living with the fear of RUNNING OUT, you can have faith in RUNNING OVER! Fear attracts what you’re afraid of; faith attracts what you are believing God for! So, what are you attracting every day?
— Stop thinking about protecting and start thinking about multiplying! The servant who buried his talent was thinking of protection, but the ones who doubled the money their master gave them to steward were thinking about multiplication. Kingdom economics is about expansion, not just preservation!
— Meditate on scriptures that teach you about God’s desire to prosper you until they become your default thought pattern! Joshua 1:8 promises prosperity to those who meditate on God’s Word day and night. What you think about all day matters!
3. Take Practical Steps to Build Kingdom Wealth.
Faith without works is dead, including financial faith! It’s not enough to believe for prosperity; you must position yourself for it. God gives seed to the sower, not the wisher!
How this applies to you:
— Start where you are with what you have! Moses had a rod, David had a sling, the widow had oil, and the boy had loaves and fish. God doesn’t need much to work with, but He needs SOMETHING to work with!
— Believe God to create multiple streams of income! The Garden of Eden was fed with four streams. Ecclesiastes 11:2 says, “Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come.” One stream can dry up, but multiple streams create rivers!
— Become a producer, not just a consumer! God is Creator, and you’re made in His image. Our Creator created you to be creative, like Him! You should be creating products, services, solutions, and opportunities! Consumption without production leads to destruction!
— Invest in yourself through education and skill development! The greatest return on investment is investing in yourself. Every skill you gain becomes a tool for Kingdom advancement! This is critical because Prov 22:29 says, “Observe people who are good at their work—skilled workers are always in demand and admired; they don’t take a back seat to anyone.”
— Build business and operate with Kingdom principles! Integrity, excellence, service, generosity. These aren’t just good business; they’re God’s business!
— Partner with other Kingdom-minded believers! Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor (Ecclesiastes 4:9). Covenant partnerships multiply prosperity!
— Document your vision and make plans so others can run with it! Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” God-sized visions require God-sized teams! When your vision is bigger than you (which it should be), it must be documented clearly so others can catch it, carry it, and align with God’s purpose through you!
4. Understand the Difference Between Biblical Prosperity and Prosperity Gospel.
This is crucial: We’re not preaching the prosperity gospel. What I am doing is preaching Biblical prosperity. There’s a massive difference, and understanding it protects you from both extremes of greed and false humility.
How this applies to you:
— Biblical prosperity is about purpose fulfillment, not pleasure accumulation! God prospers you to accomplish your assignment, not just to accumulate stuff. Prosperity WITH purpose is Biblical; prosperity AS purpose is idolatry!
— Biblical prosperity includes suffering and success! Paul knew how to abound AND how to be abased. The same faith that prospers you will sustain you through problems!
— It’s not about naming and claiming whatever you want! It’s about discovering and declaring what God has already provided. Faith doesn’t create reality; it accesses what grace already provided!
— Biblical prosperity makes you a channel, not a reservoir! God blesses you to flow through you, not just to stick to you. You’re a distribution center, not a storage facility!
— In God’s Kingdom, character matters more than cash! Biblical prosperity develops your character while increasing your capacity. God won’t give you more than your character can carry!
— Your prosperity is supposed to solve problems for others! When you prosper, orphans get fed, churches get built, missionaries get funded, and communities get transformed. Your success is someone else’s solution!
— Make Kingdom impact your measure of success! Not how much you accumulated but how many you blessed. Not how much you got but how much you gave. Kingdom success is measured by impact, not income!
That's enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:

This is not about money. I’s about identity, and I KNOW who I am!
I think like an heir, build like an heir, and give like an heir!
I reject scarcity thinking and embrace an abundance mindset!
I will take practical steps to build Kingdom wealth for Kingdom purposes!
I understand biblical prosperity and reject both poverty and greed!
I am a blessing distribution center for the nations!
My prosperity will fund Kingdom advancement and transform communities!
I walk in the blessing of Abraham AND the blessing of Christ!
