Grace in Galatians (Part 73): The Blessing of Abraham Is Already Yours!

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.
As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians.
Key scriptures for this year:
(2 Corinthians 9:8 TPT)
"Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do."
(Galatians 5:4 TPT)
"If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!"
(Romans 6:14 ERV)
"Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God's grace."
(1 Corinthians 15:10 CEV)
"But God treated me with undeserved grace! He made me what I am, and his grace wasn't wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God's grace at work and not me."
Scripture we will study today:
(Galatians 3:9 TPT)
“And so the blessing of Abraham’s faith is now our blessing through faith!”
(Galatians 3:9 NIV)
“So all people who believe are blessed the same as Abraham was blessed.”
(Ephesians 1:3 NIV)
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
Setting the Stage:
After spending time looking at why God gave the Law and how dramatically different God had to respond to sin under the Law versus under grace, we now return to Paul’s main argument in Galatians. In verse 8, Paul showed us that God foresaw the Gentiles being justified by faith and preached the Gospel to Abraham ahead of time. Now in verse 9, Paul shares a truth I believe most Christians miss: You don’t get blessed LIKE Abraham; you get blessed WITH Abraham!
This is critical to understand! Paul isn’t saying that we receive a blessing that’s similar to Abraham’s blessing. He’s saying we receive THE SAME BLESSING that Abraham received! In fact, it’s better than that; we’re blessed TOGETHER WITH Abraham! This means that, since God is in eternity and outside of time (and He is basically in every time at the same time), when God blessed Abraham 4,000 years ago, He was simultaneously blessing YOU! So, while most believers spend their lives trying to GET blessed, the truth is that when you are in Christ, you are already blessed. You have THE Blessing of Jesus and THE Blessing of Abraham!
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. You’re Not Getting Blessed; You ARE Blessed!
In Galatians 3:9, Paul teaches us that “Those who rely on faith ARE blessed along with Abraham.” Not WILL BE blessed. Not MIGHT BE blessed. Not COULD BE blessed if they perform good enough. No, if you are in Christ, you ARE blessed! This is present tense, current reality, already-done truth!
How this applies to you:
— Stop asking God to bless you when He already has! Every time you pray, “God, please bless me,” you’re actually contradicting what His Word already declares. You’re not trying to get blessed; the life of faith is a journey of learning to walk in the blessing God has already provided.
— Ephesians 1:3 confirms this truth: God “HAS blessed us” (past tense) with EVERY spiritual blessing in Christ! Not some blessings. Not most blessings. EVERY blessing! And it’s already done!
— Your blessing account is not empty, waiting to be filled. It’s overflowing, waiting to be accessed! I pray you see the revelation of the difference. The issue isn’t getting God to release more blessings, but rather you releasing your faith to access what God has already set apart for you!
— Everything you need to accomplish God’s divine purpose for your life has already been set apart for you. God did this by grace (unearned). Now, you must access it by faith as you walk out your destiny.
— Think about it: When you put money in the bank, it’s there whether you withdraw it or not. Your blessing is in the bank of heaven, already deposited by grace, waiting to be withdrawn by faith! Unfortunately, many Christians die without ever having drawn out what God allocated for them to accomplish their purpose. As a result, they die without maximizing their purpose or potential. I don’t want this to be my case or yours!
— The blessing of Abraham didn’t expire! It’s not like a coupon that was only good for Old Testament times. The same blessing God spoke over Abraham is still speaking over you today! God’s blessings don’t have expiration dates!
— You’re not blessed because you’re good; you’re blessed because you believe! Abraham wasn’t perfect, but he believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. The same goes for you!
2. Faith Is Your Connection to Abraham’s Blessing.
Paul says those who “rely on faith” are blessed with Abraham. Notice he doesn’t say those who rely on works, those who rely on the Law, or those who rely on their performance. Faith is the connector that plugs you into the blessing that’s been flowing for 4,000 years!
How this applies to you:
— Faith doesn’t create the blessing; faith connects you to the blessing that already exists! It’s like electricity; the power is already in the outlet, but you need to plug in to access it. Faith is your plug!
— Abraham believed God and received the blessing. You believe God and receive THE SAME BLESSING! Same faith system, same blessing system, same God, same results!
— The Law tried to create a different connection system based on performance, but it failed! Paul settled this forever in Romans 11:6: “And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.” Think about it: if you could work for grace, then grace would stop being grace and become payment for your efforts! You can’t earn what’s already been given. You can’t work for what’s already yours. You can only receive by faith what grace has provided!
— Here’s what’s powerful: Abraham’s faith blessed him before the Law existed, and your faith blesses you after the Law has been fulfilled! You and Abraham have more in common than you and Moses! You’re both children of faith, not Law!
— Every time you exercise faith, you’re tapping into a 4,000-year-old blessing stream! You’re not starting something new; you’re continuing something ancient. You’re not the first generation of faith; you’re the latest in a long line of believers who accessed God’s grace through faith!
— Your faith today is doing exactly what Abraham’s faith did 4,000 years ago: accessing grace!
— Stop trying to qualify for the blessing through your behavior when God is looking for you to tap into it with your belief!
3. You’re Blessed WITH Abraham, Not Just LIKE Abraham.
This is a distinction that changes everything! Paul carefully chose his words here. He didn’t say we’re blessed “like” Abraham or “as” Abraham was blessed. He said we’re blessed “WITH” Abraham! This means we’re co-heirs, co-recipients, co-blessed together!
How this applies to you:
— When God blessed Abraham, your name was included in that blessing! It wasn’t just Abraham standing before God; spiritually speaking, you were there too! Every believer throughout history was included in that moment!
— Think about this: When a father blesses his family, he doesn’t bless each child separately with different blessings. He blesses the family as a unit. God blessed the entire family of faith when He blessed Abraham!
— This is why the Bible calls Abraham the “father of faith.” Not because he’s superior to you, but because he was the first to receive by faith what you’re now receiving by faith. He’s your spiritual ancestor, and you’ve inherited the family blessing!
— When you understand you’re blessed WITH Abraham, you realize the blessing is a family inheritance, not an individual achievement! You didn’t earn it, you inherited it! And inheritances are received, not achieved!
— You and Abraham are sitting at the same blessing table, eating from the same provision! Some Christians still think the Israelites are God’s “chosen people” and the rest of us are somehow second-class citizens in God’s Kingdom. But in Christ, there’s no difference between Jew and Gentile – we’re all one family now! The wall of separation has been torn down! Whether you’re descended from Abraham naturally or grafted in by faith, you’re both feasting on the fullness of God’s grace together! We are all ONE, and we get the SAME BLESSING!
— You should have the same expectation of success that you see in Jewish businesspeople who understand they carry Abraham’s blessing! I’ve watched shows where Jewish entrepreneurs approach business deals with absolute confidence, expecting to prosper because they know they’re operating under Abraham’s blessing. Meanwhile, many Christians struggle with poverty mindsets and doubt God’s provision, never realizing they have access to the exact same blessing! Stop letting others walk in your inheritance while you beg for scraps! The blessing that’s making them successful in business is the same blessing available to you, but you have to believe it and exercise faith to access it!
4. The Blessing Is Already Activated and Currently Operating.
Paul doesn’t say the blessing will be activated when you do enough good works. He doesn’t say it’s dormant, waiting for you to wake it up. The blessing IS! Present tense! Right now! Already flowing! Currently active! Presently working!
How this applies to you:
— The blessing of Abraham has been actively working for 4,000 years and hasn’t stopped for a single day! It worked through Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, and it’s working through you right now! It didn’t take a break during the Law, and it didn’t retire after the cross. It’s still fully operational!
— Your circumstances don’t deactivate the blessing; your unbelief does! The blessing is always on, always flowing, always available. The only variable is whether your faith-swith is in the ON position to receive it!
— Here’s a truth that will set you free: The blessing works while you sleep! You don’t have to maintain it, sustain it, or retain it through your efforts. It’s sustained by God’s grace, not your grinding!
— Every morning you wake up, you wake up blessed! You don’t have to earn today’s blessing through today’s performance. Today’s blessing was secured 4,000 years ago and confirmed 2,000 years ago at the cross!
— The blessing is looking for ways to manifest in your life! It’s not hiding from you; it’s pursuing you! Psalm 23 says, “Surely goodness and mercy shall FOLLOW me all the days of my life!” The blessing is chasing you down! Now, the question is: do you have the faith to receive it and walk in it daily?
That’s enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You for THE Blessing of Abraham and THE Blessing of Jesus!
I’m not trying to get blessed; I AM already blessed!
The same blessing You spoke over Abraham is active in my life today!
I receive by faith what You’ve already provided by grace!
My faith connects me to a 4,000-year-old blessing that’s still flowing strong!
I’m not blessed LIKE Abraham; I’m blessed WITH Abraham!
We share the same blessing, the same favor, the same inheritance!
The blessing is working in my life right now, even when I don’t see it!
I wake up blessed, I go through my day blessed, and I go to sleep blessed!
I’m not waiting on a blessing; I’m walking in THE blessing!
I am Living #TheGraceLife and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
