Grace in Galatians Part 178 – Three Keys To Waiting on God

Today, we continue our focus on THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, as we learn to maintain our posture of faith after God has revealed His plans for our future.

Setting the Stage:

On Friday, I told you we were moving forward in Galatians. Then this weekend, the Holy Spirit led me to stay here a little while longer. I believe it’s because the Lord is leading me to make this whole concept of overcoming weariness a book. In the next month or two, I’ll be publishing another book about this. As I seek to close out Galatians 6:9, I know the Lord will continue to minister to me about whatever he wants me to put in the book. 

Here are three phrases I was meditating on: Fear not. Forget not. Faint not. These are not slogans. They are three keys that keep you in step with God when the season is longer than you expected. They are also phrases that will help you protect your heart from weariness. Let’s talk about it.

So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.

1. Fear Not, Because God’s Track Record Is Perfect.

Fear fills any gap that faith leaves open, and it does not wait for permission to show up. I have told you many times that while faith pleases God, fear pleases Satan. Therefore, fear is one of his major tactics. But if you want to overcome fear, you can meditate on this: God has never broken a promise to you. Not one. Not ever. The same God who cracked the Red Sea wide open, who shut the mouths of lions, and who raised Jesus from the dead is the God who authored the promise you are still waiting on. His track record is good! If God said it, you can count on it!

How this applies to you:

— Years ago, Pastor Creflo Dollar said, “Fear tolerated is faith contaminated.” Don’t allow fear to contaminate your faith. You cannot be in fear and in faith at the same time. 

— Fear is a spirit, not a mood. 2 Timothy 1:7 says God did not give you that spirit, so name the source and refuse the source.

— Fear looks at the size of the problem. Faith looks at the size of the Father.

— Perfect love casts out fear, not perfect information. You do not need more data about your situation. You need a fresh revelation of how deeply your Father loves you, because the same love that sent Jesus to the cross is the love holding your promise in place right now.

— Isaiah 41:10 does not tell you to feel better when you are challenged. It just reminds you that you are not alone. “I am with you” is the reason fear has to take a back seat. God’s presence brings with it His power, but also His peace. 

— When you are struggling with fear, just remind yourself that your circumstances did not catch God by surprise.

— The waiting is not evidence that you were wrong about the promise. It is evidence that God is working on something bigger than a quick fix.

— Every time fear asks, “What if it never happens?” answer it with, “What if it does?” Faith expects. Fear erodes. Choose which voice you will allow to set the atmosphere in your heart.

2. Forget Not, Because Amnesia Is The Enemy’s Favorite Weapon While You Are Waiting.

Weariness makes you forget. And forgetting is not a small thing. Israel’s eleven-day trip stretched into forty years because they kept forgetting what God had already done. They saw the Red Sea split and were grumbling about water three days later. You and I are not different. Memory is a spiritual discipline, and while you are waiting on God, your memory of what God HAS done is key to believing Him for what is next!

How this applies to you:

— Israel did not just remember with their minds. They built altars with their hands. They piled up stones so that when the next storm came, they had a physical place to point at and say, “God showed up HERE, and He will show up AGAIN.” An altar of remembrance is not a monument to your past. It is ammunition for your present waiting season.

— An altar of remembrance is not just for you. Your children need somewhere to look when their own waiting season comes.

— Keep a running list of God’s faithfulness. Weariness will erase the record if you let it, and the enemy will try to convince you it never happened. If you do not write it down, weariness will rewrite the story.

— Psalm 77 says, “I WILL remember.” That is a decision, not a mood. Some days, you have to make the decision before the feeling shows up.

— The enemy is after your memory. Because it is in your memory that you find the strength to stand in your current circumstances and situations 

— While you are waiting on God to do what He promised, when things get difficult, go back to the original word that started this whole season.

— Deuteronomy 8 was God saying, “Remember how I led you.” He knew their future was tied to their memory, and He knows yours is too. What you refuse to forget becomes the fuel for what you still believe!

3. Faint Not, Because The Harvest Is Already Scheduled.

This is the heart of Galatians 6:9. Paul is not asking you to pretend you are not tired. He is telling you the harvest is real, the timing is appointed, and the only way you miss it is by walking off the field before it arrives. God releases the harvest at the proper time. You have to be standing there to receive it. So faint not. Do not let yesterday’s exhaustion rob you of tomorrow’s blessing!

How this applies to you:

— The hardest part of labor is not the beginning. It is transition, the moments right before the delivery, when the pressure peaks and the mother is ready to quit. The enemy fights the same way in your life. Heavy resistance right now is not proof that God forgot you. It is confirmation that the harvest is close.

— Prepared blessings come to prepared people. The more you meditate and meditate on the word of God, the better prepared you will be, and you will discover that your habits preach the loudest when your feelings are tired.

— You have the grace to wait! 2 Corinthians 4:16 says your inner being is renewed every single day. Draw on today’s supply.

— Your energy source is Him, not you.

— The enemy does not need to make you a bad person. He just needs to make you a tired person or a weary person, who stops showing up. Fatigue is talked about less than temptation, but it takes out just as many believers.

— Endurance is not a personality trait. It is a grace, and grace is not something you do in your own strength. You receive it, you walk in it, and you finish in it.

— Enter into this day knowing that the grace of God is on you to endure and overcome long enough to see what He said!

4. These Three Are Postures Grace Enables, Not Goals You Try Harder At.

Here is where many miss it. Fear not, forget not, faint not can sound like a self-improvement list. It is not. These three are postures that grace enable inside of you. The Law says, “Try harder.” Grace says, “Lean in to what God has already put inside of you.”

How this applies to you:

— Grace is the fuel (God’s part), and faith is the agreement (your part). God supplies everything you need to endure and overcome.

— The Holy Spirit is your Rememberer. Jesus promised He would bring all things back to your mind, so you do not have to manufacture the memory in your own strength. Ask Him, and He will bring truth back right when you need it.

— When you feel weary, do not rebuke yourself for being human. Receive fresh grace instead of accusing your own heart. The Father is not disappointed in your tiredness. He is ready to renew you.

— Your job is to stay in the field. God’s job is to renew the field worker. You are not responsible for generating the grace. You are just responsible for NOT walking away.

— Performance says, “I am not strong enough for this.” Grace says, “He is more than strong enough inside of me.” This is the same situation, but from two perspectives (two voices). Listen to the one telling the truth.

— Go into this day knowing that the Lord is your strength. He is your supply. He has empowered you for such a time as this. God is looking for consistency and endurance, and His grace is on you for both! Receive this grace today!

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I thank You that fear has no authority in my life.

You are with me, and You are my God.

I will remember Your wonders in this waiting season.

I refuse to let the enemy erase what You have already done for me.

I will not grow weary in doing good.

The harvest has been scheduled, and I will not miss it.

I will not faint, because my inner being is being renewed every single day by Your grace.

Fear not. Forget not. Faint not. These are my postures, not my slogans.

I am living in THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, and Your faithfulness is my anchor.

I am living THE GRACE LIFE, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
