Grace in Galatians Part 177 – The Grace To Keep Doing Good Until The Door Opens

Today, we continue our focus on THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, as we learn to maintain our posture of faith after God has revealed His plans for our future.
As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians.
Key scriptures for this year:
2 Peter 3:18 GNT“But continue to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever.”
Luke 10:20 Mirror“It’s time for you to rediscover who you are from Heaven’s perspective.”
1 John 3:10 Mirror“There is a very visible and vast difference between living one’s life from your God identity or from a fallen man’s mindset.”
Proverbs 25:2 NKJV“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Scripture we will study today:
Galatians 6:9 ERV“We must not get tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time. We must not give up!”
Galatians 6:9 TPT“And don’t allow yourselves to be weary or disheartened in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!”
Supporting scriptures:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 ERV
“There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 AMPC“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”
Psalm 27:14 NIV“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Isaiah 22:22 NIV“I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”
Revelation 3:7-8 NIV“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.”
Hebrews 10:36 NIV“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
Setting the Stage:
We have been camped on Galatians 6:9 for a while, and for good reason. Paul is not giving you a cool slogan. He is handing you a truth from God that will keep you through the most difficult times of your life. Today, we will look at another aspect of God as we look at another facet of this verse.
Picture your breakthrough on the other side of a door. Imagine for a moment that as soon as the door opens, you can walk through and experience what you’ve been waiting for. Well, this morning I want to tell you that the door has a Keeper. Your calling in the hallway is clear: keep doing good until He opens it. Not because you are earning the open door. Because grace keeps your heart and your hands in sync while heaven runs the clock. You must keep doing good long enough until you get to the point where God’s timing commands the door to open.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. The Door Has a Keeper, and It Is Not You.
There is a kind of waiting that turns spiritual people into manipulators. You start trying to manage outcomes, timelines, and even God Himself, because the silence is bringing you fear and pain. One of the things that my spiritual father, Pastor Tony Brazelton, has said many times is that we must remember that God is the one who controls the outcome. He is moving pieces around on the chessboard. When it looks like you’re cornered, don’t worry, he still has another move.
Galatians 6:9 is not asking you to be the keeper of the door. It is asking you to be faithful while you wait. God is the one who will open the door at just the right time. While you are waiting for the door to open, you have an option. You can operate in faith or fear, in stress or rest. The door will open when the Keeper (God) opens it. Until then, you do what Paul says. You do good. You do not quit.
How this applies to you:
— Stop playing God over the calendar. Pray boldly, but release the idea that you can dictate when it happens, because you cannot.
— God knows what He is doing. Your Father is not asleep at the wheel. If you trust Him, you will rest and keep doing good. If you do not, you will stress and give up. I know we have all done the latter, but it’s time for us to be focused on the former.
— You can want the open door without worshiping the timeline. Wanting it is human. It’s okay to admit that you want it to happen and that you want it to happen now. But wanting and demanding are not the same thing. Demanding it is a trap. Demanding causes you to cross a line with God. You don’t get to tell God what to do. That would be like the tail wagging the dog. Embracing God’s grace keeps you steady, stable, and consistent in the gap.
— If you have been trying to force doors with manipulation, overwork, or people-pleasing, repent and come back to simplicity. Do good. Let God be God.
— Some doors stay shut because protection is mercy, not punishment. You may not see the full reason yet. Trust the Keeper even when the hallway is long. When God finally does it, you will realize that His timing was perfect, and you will be thankful that he did not give it to you when you were demanding that He do it.
— Perseverance is not the same as panic. Perseverance looks like consistent obedience. Panic looks like desperate shortcuts.
— You are not responsible for forcing the door open. You are responsible to keep a clean heart and a faithful walk while you wait.
— When the door opens, you will be glad you stayed kind, generous, and Spirit-led in the season when nothing looked like it was working. But remember, God is working even when you can’t see him working.
2. Doing Good Is How You Stay Aligned While You Wait.
Weariness wants you to grow quiet, cold, and cynical. Paul counters all of that with two words: doing good. Not doing loud. Not doing flashy. Doing good. That means integrity when no one is applauding. Prayer when no one is around to hear you. Generosity when your own bucket feels empty. This is also how you guard your identity. You are not defined by how fast the door opens. You are defined by who you belong to. And belonging shows up in fruit. If you stop doing good, you do not speed up the harvest. You only starve your own soul while you wait.
How this applies to you:
— If you feel invisible and ignored while you are waiting on God, do good anyway. Heaven keeps receipts even when it seems like the earth is not noticing you.
— Doing good is not a bribe to God; you are not working for it. It is an agreement with who He is in you. Grace already positioned you to receive it. Faith expresses your confidence that it is only a matter of time.
— Serve your family with patience. Show up at work with excellence. Bless people who cannot pay you back. That is not performance-based religion. That is #TheGraceLife.
— If your emotions are messy, you can still choose actions that honor God. If you develop godly habits, then your habits will preach, even when your feelings are tired.
— Do not let delay turn you into a smaller version of yourself. Bitterness shrinks you. Obedience enlarges you. Once again, one of my key teachings is “Expanding your capacity to believe God.” If you keep serving and you keep believing, then you will also naturally continue to EXPAND your capacity to believe while you wait on Him.
— The seed is still working even when the soil looks unchanged. Keep sowing. Your part is to remain faithful. God’s part is to bring in the pass at just the right time.
— During most messages at the end, when I’m asking you to repeat after me in a declaration of faith, I instruct you to say (in faith, without a doubt, without wavering) “Greater is coming for me!” If you say that and you believe it, it keeps your heart in a posture of expectation, and expectation is essential for the life of faith.
3. The Harvest Named in Galatians 6:9 Is Bigger Than Your Next Breakthrough.
The ERV says you will receive your harvest of eternal life at the right time. Read that slowly. Paul is not saying that earthly breakthroughs do not matter. He is saying the biggest harvest is not a moment. It is a Person. It is life that death cannot delete. That is why you can afford not to quit. Even if one chapter of your story feels delayed, your eternal outcome is already secured in Christ. IT’S ALREADY DONE at the level that matters forever. That truth does not insult your present pain. It anchors it. You are not wasting your life in the waiting season if Jesus IS your life.
How this applies to you:
— Earthly promises may shift in shape, but the promise of eternal life does not shift. Anchor there first. In other words, there will be moments where you get your expectations up for things of this world, and they don’t happen, but you must remember that those are things connected to this world, but not eternal life. Your position in Christ for eternity is secure if you’re born again, and that reality, that eternal security, should anchor every aspect of your life.
— If you have been measuring your life by whether or not God opens this door or that one, you are focused on the temporal and not the eternal. While I am convinced that it is God’s will for us to prosper and He does want to bless us in this world, ultimately, you have to remember that the world to come is more important.
— Thank God for what is finished so you can endure what is still unfolding!
— You are not just waiting for something to happen. You are becoming someone who can carry what God brings without being owned by it. Remember, you must be processed to the point where you can carry the weight of the anointing associated with the assignment. And even more importantly, your ultimate assignment will be in heaven, where you will forever be with the Lord.
4. You Are Not Standing in Front of a Wall. You Are Standing Before a Door That Opens on Purpose.
A wall says nothing gets through. A door says authorized passage happens in season. That is the difference between despair and hope. You may feel like you are staring at concrete, but what is between you and your breakthrough is an opening, and God controls the access. Jesus holds the key. What He opens, nobody shuts. What He shuts, nobody opens. So your job is not to ram the wall. Your job is to stay ready. Keep doing good. Keep a soft heart. Keep listening. The hallway is not your destiny. It is your training floor. The time will come for God to open the door.
How this applies to you:
— Replace the word stuck with sent. Even waiting is an assignment when Jesus is Lord of it.
— If you feel like you are being overlooked, remember heaven notices faithfulness when people do not.
— Do not waste the hallway season by turning inward and bitter. Use it to deepen your walk with God in prayer, humility, and love.
— Ask God to help you strengthen your patience without hardening your heart. Those two are not the same.
— God is not punishing you with a pause. He is positioning you for what mercy unlocks next.
— When the door opens, you want to walk through grateful and whole, not angry and bitter.
— Prepare as if the door can open suddenly because it can happen at any time!
That’s enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You that the door has a Keeper, and His name is Jesus.
I release control of the timeline, and I trust Your right time, because You are never late and never cruel.
I will keep doing good by grace, not to manipulate an outcome, but because I agree with who I am in Christ.
I anchor my heart in the harvest of eternal life, because my forever is settled in You.
I refuse to call my hallway a wall. I call it training, and I stay faithful in the field.
I declare that Jesus holds the key, and what You open for me, no one can shut.
I persevere in doing Your will, and I believe I will receive what You have promised.
I stay soft toward people and strong toward the enemy, and I will not quit.
I thank You that You are patient, and Your patience is mercy, not abandonment.
I am living THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, I am living THE GRACE LIFE, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
