Grace in Galatians Part 175 – The Grace To Believe Again

Today, we continue our focus on THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, as we learn to maintain our posture of faith after God has revealed His plans for our future.

As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians.

Setting the Stage:

We are still in Galatians 6:9. Today, I want to address a specific brand of weariness that has not come up yet in this series. Not the kind that makes you quit. The kind that makes you shrink. You do not walk away from the promise, but you quietly start making it smaller, more manageable, more realistic. And before long, what God enlarged has been negotiated down to something you almost do not recognize. 

One of my core teachings is about expanding your capacity to believe God. Just like you had to expand your capacity to believe God in the first place to get to the point where you were actually believing the vision. If you’ve allowed weariness to cause you to shrink the vision, guess what? There’s a grace available for you to believe again. For you to expand your heart again. For you to open your heart to the size of the blessing that God wants to release in your life, despite the fact that you allowed yourself to grow weary while doing good. 

Grace does not just empower you to start; grace empowers you to restart. If you’ve been disappointed, delayed, or disheartened, you are not disqualified, you just need to be renewed. God gives you the strength to lift your expectation back up to what He originally said. 

So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.

1. Weariness Makes You Shrink the Vision Before It Makes You Quit It.

Weariness does not always attack your will to continue. It attacks the SIZE of what you are believing for. You started out with a big God-given dream. It scared you. It excited you. And then the wait happened, and slowly, without you even noticing, you started editing the vision. You stopped saying “God is going to use me internationally” and settled for “locally is fine.” You stopped saying “God is going to heal this marriage completely” and settled for “we just have to survive.” That is not humility. That is weariness negotiating with the promise. The 12 spies in Numbers 13 saw the SAME land God showed Moses. But ten of them let fear shrink their self-image until they called themselves grasshoppers. The land had not changed. The promise had not changed. Their vision had.

How this applies to you:

— Go back and read the original word. Not the edited version you have been living with. I mean the one God gave you before weariness had a chance to renegotiate it.

— The 10 spies reported what they SAW. Caleb and Joshua reported what God SAID. There is a difference between reporting your circumstances and reporting God’s word. Weariness reports giants. Faith reports the harvest.

— Some of you have been speaking a smaller version of the promise for so long, you have forgotten what the original sounded like. Do not let weariness cause you to permenantly renegotiate the size of your expectation.

— God does not give small visions. He conceals the full picture because He knows the wait is part of the building process. He gave you a big word because He has a big plan, and that plan has not shrunk just because the timeline has gotten long. The vision is still full-sized in heaven.

— Caleb and Joshua went into the SAME land as the 10 fearful spies. The only difference between them and the ten spies, the ten spies were focusing on their humanity. Joshua and Caleb were focusing on their God. And if you want to talk about getting delayed, Joshua and Caleb are a great example. They didn’t do anything wrong, but because of other people, the vision they saw was delayed for 40 years. Think about that. But the good news is that after those 40 years, Joshua and Caleb still got to receive the promise God revealed to them. God did not downsize the vision because of the 40-year delay. That’s the point of today’s message.  

— Some of you need to hear this: the fact that the vision has not yet happened does not mean it was wrong. It means it requires a version of you that the wait is still producing. The promise did not get smaller. You just got tired.

— Weariness shrinks the vision, but grace restores your capacity to see it again. And once you see it, you can get the original word back in your mouth. Say, “AMEN” to that!

2. Weariness Whispers That You Are the Exception to God’s Promise.

Weariness does not deny God’s promises. It just tells you those promises are for everyone else. “That works for them. Your situation is too complicated. Your wait has been too long. Your mistakes were too public. You are the exception.” That lie almost sounds humble. But what it is, is weariness and doubt. Worryiness will cause you to feel like you’re the only one that God is not going to do it for. 

How this applies to you:

— The moment you start saying, “God’s promises work for other people, but my situation is different,” you are not being discerning. You are entertaining a lie. And when you believe a lie, you empower the liar. 

— The prodigal son was in the worst condition of his entire life when he “came to himself.” He remembered who his father was. He stopped agreeing with his circumstances. When weariness lies to you, you need to come to yourself, too. Your Father’s house has more than enough, and it has not stopped being your Father’s house.

— The enemy’s strategy is to get you to voluntarily self-exclude from the promise God already assigned to your name.

— When you believe you are the exception, you stop sowing, stop standing, and stop expecting. At that point, the enemy wins without having to fight you directly. You are destroying yourself because you are disqualifying yourself, but here’s the good news about grace: you cannot disqualify yourself from something you never qualified for in the first place. Jesus qualified for you. 

3. Weariness Isolates You from Your Assignment — and the People Who Need You Stop Getting What You Carry.

Here is the dimension of this verse that most people miss. Paul says, “let us not grow weary in doing GOOD.” That word “good” refers to divine works that are visible and beneficial to OTHERS. This is not just about your private faith life. There are people in your world right now whose breakthrough is connected to whether you stay at your post. In Ezekiel 3:17, God told Ezekiel he was a watchman for Israel. When the watchman leaves the wall, the city is exposed. Your assignment is your post. And when weariness pulls you off of it, the people who needed your voice, your gift, your consistency, are left without what God specifically assigned you to bring them.

How this applies to you:

— Simply put: Your faithfulness is somebody else’s access point.

— Some of you have been thinking about this waiting season as if it only involves you and God. But there are people assigned to your specific path who are waiting on you to not quit. Your endurance is someone else’s example.

— When the watchman leaves the wall, no one else fills that exact post. There is no replacement for the specific assignment God put in your hands. YOU are irreplaceable in the thing God assigned to you.

— Weariness isolates. When you are deeply tired, you pull away from the very people who carry your fuel. You stop showing up. You stop answering. And isolation feeds weariness, and weariness feeds isolation. It is a cycle. 

— Weariness isolates you, but grace reconnects you. And once you get reconnected, you’ll be reconnected to a group of people that will help you believe again.

— Romans 8:19 says creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. The world is not just waiting on God. It is waiting on you to step into what God put you here to do.

— You cannot see every life your faithfulness will touch. But God can. That is why He keeps saying “do not grow weary.” He is protecting the harvest that is supposed to flow THROUGH you to people you have never met. Your obedience has a reach beyond your visibility.

— If you’ve pulled back from your post, grace is not condemning you. Grace is calling you back to your assignment with fresh oil. You can return without shame and believe again for impact through your life. God is not going to hold your season of weariness against you. 

4. Grace Gives You the Power to Return to Your WHY — and That Is What Changes Everything.

The cure to weariness is not more willpower, more discipline, or another conference. It is REMEMBERING WHY GOD SENT YOU TO THIS PLANET. Why did God call you? Who did He say this was for? What is at stake if you quit? The prodigal son did not return home because he tried harder. He returned because he remembered. He came back to himself. He remembered his father’s house, his father’s love, his father’s table. The memory broke the cycle. And when he turned around, his father saw him from “a long way off,” which means his father never stopped watching for him. The moment you turn back toward the WHY, God starts running toward you.

How this applies to you:

— Before you make any decision about whether to keep going, go back to your WHY. Who benefits when you do not quit? What did God show you when the vision was first given?

— I have been writing Today’s Word for over 28 years. There are days the weariness is real. But I know WHY. Every morning that someone reads and is strengthened for the day, that is a life that needed something I had. When the WHY is God, the HOW LONG does not get to win.

— The ERV says it plainly: “We must not give up!” The word “must” is not a suggestion. The grace you need to not give up is already deposited in your spirit. You are not starting from zero. You are returning to the strength you already have.

— Returning to your WHY changes your prayer life. Instead of whining in prayer, saying, “God, I can’t do this anymore,” you start praying, “Remind me what You said. Remind me who this is for. Remind me what is at stake.” Your faith is restored when you remember. 

— The father in Luke 15 ran to his son. That run was not about the son’s performance. It was about the father’s love and the son’s identity. When you return to WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE, the Father runs to meet you with everything heaven has. God’s love for you has not changed, and your identity, at least in God’s eyes, has not changed either. 

— Weariness makes you forget, but grace helps you remember. Grace brings your “why” back to the surface, and when your “why” comes alive again, faith starts breathing again.

— Don’t pray, “God, give me more willpower.” Pray, “Father, pour fresh grace on what You called me to do.” Grace doesn’t just motivate you, it strengthens you to believe again until expectation becomes normal again.

— In closing, here is something I want you to remember: Your harvest is scheduled, your due season is real, and IT’S ALREADY DONE!

Declaration of Faith:

Father, I thank You that weariness will not shrink what You enlarged in my heart.

By Your grace, I return to the original word You spoke over my life, and I call it full-sized again.

I receive Your grace to believe again, and I refuse to let delay rewrite or renegotiate my expectation.

I will not self-exclude from what You assigned to my name; I say “yes” to Your calling again.

I refuse isolation, and by Your grace I will stay at my post and remain faithful in doing good.

Father, strengthen me to show up again with clean hands, a willing heart, and expanding faith.

Father, I declare that my due season is real, my harvest is scheduled, and by Your grace I will believe again until I see it! 

I have the grace to believe again!

I am living THE GRACE LIFE and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
