Grace in Galatians (Part 167): Your Actions Matter More Than You Realize

Today, we continue our focus on THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, as we learn to maintain our posture of faith after God has revealed His plans for our future.

Setting the Stage:
Yesterday, in Part 166, we discussed Galatians 6:7. We focused heavily on the financial dimension of sowing and reaping. We talked about how this verse connects directly to verse 6, where Paul was teaching about supporting ministry. We talked about my mother and how she gives food away every single day and never runs out because the system works. Sowing and reaping is a law in God’s Kingdom, and a law does not take a day off.
But here is something I want you to understand. Paul did not say, “Whatever a man sows financially, that he will also reap.” He said, “Whatever a man sows, THAT he will also reap.” Whatever. That word covers everything. It covers your finances, yes. But it also covers your words. Your thoughts. Your attitudes. Your habits. Your time. Your effort. Your relationships. The law of sowing and reaping is not a financial principle with spiritual applications. It is a universal law that touches every single area of your life.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. Your Words Are Seeds That Produce a Harvest.
Proverbs 18:21 says death and life are in the power of the tongue. That is not poetry. That is a Biblical truth. Your tongue has the power to plant life or plant death, and whatever you plant, you are going to harvest. Think about what you have been saying over your life, over your marriage, over your children, over your job, over your health. Have you been planting life or death? Some people wake up every morni,ng and the first words out of their mouths are complaints. “I’m tired. I hate my job. Nothing ever works out for me. I can’t catch a break.” And then they are genuinely confused when their life looks exactly like what they have been speaking. You are not describing your life. You are designing it.
In the end! The Bible says in Psalm 45:1, “My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” Your tongue is literally writing the story of your life. Every word you speak is a sentence in the book of your future. If you don’t like the chapter you’re living in, you need to change what your tongue is writing! You are the author, and your words are the ink. So write something worth reading. Write victory. Write favor. Write abundance. Write health. Write purpose. Because whatever you write with your mouth, you will eventually read with your life. I don’t know about you, but if I’m writing the book, I win!
How this applies to you:
— Start paying attention to what comes out of your mouth before noon. Most people have already planted an entire garden of negativity before they even get to work. The first words you speak set the tone for your entire day, and those words are seeds.
— When you say things like “I’ll never get ahead” or “nothing ever works out for me,” you are not just venting. You are planting. And the law of sowing and reaping does not distinguish between what you meant and what you said. The seed goes into the ground regardless of your intention.
— Your words over your children are seeds in their future. Speak purpose, identity, and destiny over them, not frustration, comparison, and limitation. What you plant in their ears today will produce a harvest in their lives for decades.
— Proverbs 18:21 says those who love the tongue will eat its fruit. That means you are going to consume the harvest of your own words. If that does not make you think twice about what you are saying, nothing will.
— In THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, discover the connection between what you have been saying and what you have been experiencing. Your mouth has been planting seeds your whole life, and the harvest is showing up whether you recognize the connection or not.
2. Your Thoughts Are Seeds That Shape Your Reality.
Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” That verse is telling you that your thought life is not neutral territory. It is a garden. Whatever you allow to take root in your mind is going to produce fruit in your life. You cannot think defeated thoughts and live a victorious life. You cannot think anxious thoughts and walk in peace. The thought is the seed. The meditation is the watering. And the harvest shows up in your behavior, your decisions, and your outcomes.
How this applies to you:
— You cannot afford to let every thought run free in your mind. Second Corinthians 10:5 says to take every thought captive. That means you have to evaluate what you are thinking and decide whether that thought deserves to stay or needs to go. Not every thought that enters your mind deserves residency. You have the power to cast down every negative thought!
— If you spend all day thinking about what could go wrong, you are sowing fear. And fear produces a harvest of paralysis, anxiety, and missed opportunities. But if you spend your time meditating on what God has said about your future, you are sowing faith, and faith produces action.
— Here is something most people do not realize. Your thoughts are not private. They show up in your face, your energy, your body language, and eventually your decisions. People around you can see the harvest of your thought life even if they cannot hear the thoughts themselves.
— Worry is meditation on the wrong thing. When you worry, you are actually using your God-given ability to meditate, but you are meditating on the problem instead of the promise.
— Some of you have been losing the battle in your life, not because the enemy is stronger than you, but because you have been agreeing with the enemy in your thought life. I keep telling you to BELIEVE what God believes about you!
— In THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, discover that changing your thinking is not optional. It is the most important seed you will ever sow. If you change what you think, you will change what your life produces.
3. Your Time Is a Seed That Determines What Grows.
This is the one most people overlook. Your time is a seed. Where you invest your time is where your harvest will grow. If you spend all your time on entertainment and none in the Word of God, do not be surprised when your spirit is malnourished. If you spend all your time on social media and none building real relationships, do not be surprised when you feel isolated. If you spend all your time putting out fires at work and none investing in your family, do not be surprised when the relationships that matter most start to deteriorate. Time is the most valuable seed you have because once it is planted, you cannot get it back.
How this applies to you:
— Take an honest look at where your time goes in a given week. Your calendar does not lie. Whatever gets the most of your time is getting the most of your seed. And that is where your biggest harvest is going to come from, for better or for worse.
— If you say your family is your priority but your schedule says otherwise, your family is not getting the seed. And where there is no seed, there is no harvest. Intentions do not grow anything. Invested time does.
— I think about how Isabella and I have invested time into the children at Grace Destiny Academy in the Dominican Republic. We did not just send money. We showed up. We invested hours, days, weeks. And the harvest from that time investment is 235 children receiving a Christ-centered education, lives transformed, and families changed. That harvest grew because time was planted.
— Every hour you spend in the Word, in prayer, in worship, and in fellowship is a seed into your spiritual future. You are not wasting time when you sit with God. You are planting the most valuable seed you have.
— Some of you are exhausted because you are sowing your time into things that produce no real harvest. Not everything that is urgent is important. Not everything that demands your attention deserves it. Learn to sow your time into what matters most, not just what screams the loudest.
4. Your Habits Are Seeds on Autopilot.
A habit is not just something you do repeatedly. It is a seed you plant every single day without even thinking about it. Every time you repeat a behavior, you are reinforcing the harvest that behavior will produce. If you have a habit of excellence, that seed compounds over time into a life of excellence. If you have a habit of cutting corners, that seed compounds into a life of mediocrity. This is why small daily disciplines matter.
How this applies to you:
— Think of your habits as an automatic seed spreader. Every morning you wake up, your habits start planting before you even make a conscious decision. The question is not whether your habits are producing a harvest. The question is whether you like what they are producing.
— Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 that he disciplined his body and brought it under strict control. He did not leave his daily patterns to chance. He was intentional about what he repeated because he understood that repetition is the mechanism through which habits plant seeds. Discipline is not punishment. It is positioning. When you live a disciplined life, you are sowing seeds daily, and you are positioning yourself to receive a constant harvest!
— The person who has a habit of prayer is sowing peace, clarity, and spiritual authority into their life every single day. The person who has a habit of scrolling social media first thing in the morning is sowing comparison, distraction, and anxiety. Both are habits. Both are seeds. Both are producing a harvest.
— Small habits produce massive harvests over time because of the compounding effect. One day of reading the Word does not change your life. But 365 days of reading the Word will transform everything about how you think, speak, and live. The compound interest of daily obedience is staggering.
— Today’s word takes me about three hours a day, and I’ve been doing this five days a week for over 28 years. That type of consistency and that type of seed sowing is what has produced a tremendous harvest in my life.
— In the Army, we had a phrase: “We do not rise to the level of our expectations. We fall to the level of our training.” Your training is your habits. When pressure comes, when crisis hits, when life gets hard, you do not perform based on your intentions. You perform based on what you have practiced. Your habits are your training for the moments that matter most.
— Some of you have been praying for a breakthrough while maintaining the same habits that created the problem. You cannot keep the same routine and expect a different result. If you want a new harvest, you need to plant new habits.
— In THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, discover that the most powerful seeds you will ever plant are the ones you plant every single day. Your habits are building your future one repetition at a time, and the harvest is guaranteed.
That’s enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You that the law of sowing and reaping operates in every area of my life, and today I choose to sow with intention!
My words are seeds, and I declare that from this day forward, I will speak life, faith, and purpose over my future, my family, and everything connected to me!
My thoughts are seeds, and I take every thought captive. I refuse to meditate on fear, defeat, or discouragement. I will think on what God has promised!
My time is a seed, and I will invest it wisely into the things that produce an eternal harvest: the Word, prayer, relationships, and Kingdom purpose!
My habits are seeds on autopilot, and I choose to build daily disciplines that produce righteousness, peace, and purpose in every season of my life!
I am not a victim of my circumstances. I am a sower. And whatever I plant, I will harvest!
I refuse to sow negativity and expect a positive outcome. My mouth, my mind, my habits, and my time will all agree with what God has spoken over my life!
I break up every fallow ground in my life. Wherever I have neglected to plant, I will plant today!
My seed is working right now. In every area. In every season. And my harvest is on the way!
I am living in THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, and I have discovered that I am always planting something. From today forward, I plant with purpose, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
