Grace in Galatians (Part 102): Living Free From the Law in Everyday Life

Today, we continue our series entitled “Living the Grace Life,” where we will learn to embrace and walk in God’s unmerited, unearned, and often undeserved favor throughout 2025.
As part of this series, I am teaching a verse-by-verse exposition of the book of Galatians.
Key scriptures for this year:
(2 Corinthians 9:8 TPT)
"Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do."
(Galatians 5:4 TPT)
"If you want to be made right with God by fulfilling the obligations of the law, you have cut off more than your flesh—you have cut yourselves off from Christ and have fallen away from the revelation of grace!"
(Romans 6:14 ERV)
"Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God's grace."
(1 Corinthians 15:10 CEV)
"But God treated me with undeserved grace! He made me what I am, and his grace wasn't wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God's grace at work and not me."
Scripture we will study today:
(Galatians 3:19 TPT)
“Why then was the Law given? It was meant to reveal the wrong things we do until the Seed came to whom the promise pertained. The Law was a temporary agreement put in place through angels and administered through an intermediary, Moses.”
Supporting scriptures:
(Hebrews 8:13 NIV)
“By calling this covenant ‘new,’ he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.”
(Romans 8:1-2 NIV)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
(Galatians 5:1 NIV)
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
(Colossians 2:14 TPT)
“He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all—our sins, our stained soul—he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation.”
Setting the Stage:
Yesterday, we talked about WHY the Law was given. We also discussed the fact that the Law was TEMPORARY! Look at our key verse again. It says, “until the Seed came.” The Law had an expiration date! It was never meant to be permanent. It was meant to reveal sin, not remove it. It was meant to drive us to grace, not keep us in bondage!
And here’s what blows my mind—most Christians KNOW this theologically, but they still LIVE under Law-pressure every single day! They know Hebrews 8:13 says the old covenant is OBSOLETE, but they wake up guilty, go to work anxious, and go to bed condemned. There’s a massive gap between what we know and how we live!
Today I want to get practical. I want to show you what it LOOKS like to live under grace instead of Law. Because here’s the reality: if you’re in Christ, you are NOT under an obsolete covenant! The Law’s season ENDED when Jesus came. It’s EXPIRED. It’s OBSOLETE. And it’s time for you to live like it!
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. Your Morning Mindset Is Different When You Embrace #TheGraceLife.
The Law was temporary, and its season is OVER! So why are you waking up with a Law-based checklist? “How did I do yesterday? Did I read my Bible? How many days have I missed?” That’s not grace; that’s guilt! Under grace, you wake up knowing that God’s mercies are new every morning, and His love for you isn’t based on yesterday’s performance!
How this applies to you:
— When you wake up, don’t reach for guilt; reach for God. You don’t need a perfect morning routine with “x” amount of quiet time to approach Him. Talk to Him while you’re still in bed! “Good morning, Father. I receive Your grace for today.” And then talk to Him throughout the day. That’s a relationship, not a religious obligation!
— If you missed Bible reading yesterday, don’t beat yourself up. The Law is obsolete! Grace says, “Today is a new day. His mercies are new every morning. You should open the Word because God loves you and because He wants to speak to you, not because you’re trying to make up for failure!“
— Before your feet hit the floor, declare your identity: “I am righteous by faith. God’s grace is sufficient for me today. I’m accepted in Christ! I’m God’s favorite!” This way, you are positioning yourself to live FROM victory, not FOR victory!
— As you get ready, refuse to take on the pressure to perform. The Law says, “If you do all these things… then God will bless you.” Grace says, “I have not been perfect, but I am OPEN, I have faith, and God’s grace is sufficient!“
— During your commute, speak grace over your day. Don’t replay yesterday’s failures. Declare, “God is working ALL things for my good today. His grace is sufficient for every challenge ahead!“
— When you arrive at work, remember your value is already established. You’re not working to prove yourself. You’re working because God graced you to excel! You can be productive without being stressed!
— If your morning was difficult, don’t let condemnation ruin the rest of the day. Even if the challenges of the morning we earned by your own stupidity, REPENT (which means to change your mind about it), receive grace, and move forward!
— Here’s the bottom line: God’s grace is ALREADY working in your life this morning, regardless of how you feel or what you did yesterday! The Law said, “Do this to get blessed.” Grace says, “You’re blessed, now go do!” You’re not earning God’s favor today; you’re walking in the favor He ALREADY placed on you before the day began!
2. Make Your Workplace A Place Of Excellence Without Exhaustion.
The Law demanded perfection and punished every failure. But the Law is OBSOLETE! You don’t have to operate under that pressure anymore. Grace empowers you to excel at work without the weight of earning everything. Favor is not earned, and favor can surround you like a shield!
How this applies to you:
— When you start work, remember that God’s grace is already on you to succeed. The Law says, “Perform perfectly or be rejected.” Grace says, “You’re already accepted.” So, work becomes worship, not worry!
— If you make a mistake, grace allows you to own it without shame. Law-minded thinking says, “Cover it up!” Grace says, “I made an error. Let me fix it and learn from it.” Mistakes become opportunities, not disasters! God can even turn it around for your good!
— When dealing with difficult people at work, grace gives you supernatural patience. The Law says, “Treat them like they treat you.” Grace says, “I can love difficult people because God loved me when I was difficult!“
— In meetings, you can speak up confidently. A Law-minded believer might struggle with impostor syndrome and think, “I cannot speak in meetings until I have earned the right.” But a grace-minded believer says, “God placed me here for a reason and His grace is on me to add value. So, I will say whatever He leads me to say!” Your contribution matters because God’s grace has equipped you to make a difference!
— When evaluation time comes, you can receive feedback without defensiveness. Under the Law, criticism feels like total rejection. Under grace, feedback is just information for growth!
— If you’re passed over for promotion, you don’t have to question your value. Law says, “You weren’t good enough.” Grace says, “What God has for me is for me. This one was not mine, but God has something (maybe even better), for me. Who knows? This closed door may be a form of His protection, so He can save me for what He has for me next!“
— When you are closing out your day at work, if you live by grace, you can leave without guilt. Law-minded believers struggle with the anxiety of not doing enough, and they worry about the future. Grace says, “I gave my best. God’s grace was sufficient. I trust Him with the outcome!“
— So here’s your declaration for today: I refuse to work under the pressure of the Law! I’m releasing the anxiety of performance and stepping into the power of God’s grace! My workplace success is not based on my perfection, but on God’s unquestionable favor that is ON me, IN me, WITH me, and FOR me!
3. Your Marriage and Family: Extending Grace at Home.
If you live under the pressure of the Law, you will impose this same pressure on your family. But when you understand that the Law is obsolete and that we are under a covenant of grace, your home becomes a place of freedom and healing! Your marriage thrives when you stop keeping score. Your kids flourish when they’re corrected from love, not condemned from Law!
How this applies to you:
— Here is something I told you before, and it is worth repeating: Don’t keep good records of bad things! When you live by grace, you are quick to let things go and move on.
— When your spouse disappoints you, your response reveals what covenant you’re living under. Law says, “Earn my affection back.” Grace says, “I choose to forgive because God forgave me!” When you embrace God’s grace, you can process pain without having to punish the offender!
— In conflicts, grace changes how you fight. Law-based arguments focus on who’s right. Grace-based discussions focus on resolution. You can say “I’m sorry” without losing value because your worth is in Christ, not in being right!
— When raising kids, grace-based parenting doesn’t mean no discipline. Law-minded thinking says, “You broke the rule; here’s punishment.” Grace says, “You made a wrong choice. Let’s talk about it, and I still love you!” Kids learn that mistakes don’t equal rejection! You may still have to discipline them, but you are doing so rooted and grounded in love, not anger.
— If your teenager rebels, don’t respond with Law-based shame. Law-minded thinking says, “What is wrong with you? Look what you’ve done!” Grace says, “I love you, I’m here, and we’ll get through this together!” You set boundaries and maintain standards, but you do so while also extending grace!
— When your home feels chaotic, grace says, “tomorrow is a new day.” Law says, “You’re failing as a parent/spouse.” Grace says, “I’m learning, and God’s grace covers my imperfections!” This way, you can sleep in peace, not guilt!
— Here’s the truth that will transform your home: the same grace that saved you is sufficient to sustain your family! The Law said, “Keep all the rules or your family falls apart.” Grace says, “You’re not building your home on perfect performance; you’re building it on God’s unshakeable grace!“
4. Your Personal Struggles: Grace-Power Over Willpower.
Here’s where many believers stay stuck: they’re fighting sin with obsolete weapons! They’re using Law-tactics (guilt, shame, trying harder) instead of grace-weapons (faith, identity, God’s power). Let me be clear: you will NEVER overcome persistent sin through Law-based willpower! But when you access grace, the power to change becomes available!
How this applies to you:
— When battling persistent habits, stop trying harder and start receiving more grace. Don’t say, “I must resist or I’m a failure!” Say, “God’s grace is sufficient RIGHT NOW. His power is made perfect in my weakness!” You overcome by accessing grace, not simply with human willpower.
— If you fall into sin, the first five minutes determine your recovery. Law-minded thinking says, “You blew it; so you might as well keep sinning.” Grace says, “I confess this, receive forgiveness, get up, and move forward!” Grace leads you to run to Jesus immediately!
— Battling anger? Grace empowers change. Law says, “You’re a terrible person.” Grace says, “I’m learning to let God’s love flow through me!” You can apologize, forgive yourself, and pray to tap into the power of God’s transforming grace!
— Struggling with anxiety? Law-minded thinking says, “try harder to trust.” Grace says, “God’s grace gives me peace that surpasses understanding!” If you keep trying harder to achieve peace, you will generate more stress that prevents you from reaching it. The key is freeing yourself from the limits of your humanity and tapping into the divinity living in you!
— Dealing with depression? Grace doesn’t condemn your feelings. Law-minded thinking says, “Christians should be joyful! What’s wrong with you? Fix your mind!” Grace says, “God’s grace is with me even in this valley. I can be honest while believing for breakthrough!” One mindset puts pressure on YOU, the other freely receives from God, without pressure.
— For those who are recovering from addiction, every sober day is a grace victory. Don’t say, “I’m doing this by willpower.” Say, “By God’s grace, I’m walking in freedom today!” This keeps you dependent on God, and not yourself. If you depend on yourself, you WILL let yourself down! But when you depend on God, He will never let you down!
— Here’s what breaks every chain: God’s grace is MORE POWERFUL than anything you will ever face! The Law said, “Try harder and maybe you’ll overcome.” Grace says, “God has ALREADY given me everything you need for life and godliness. God’s power in me is greater than any trial, test, or temptation I will ever face!” You’re not fighting FOR victory; you’re fighting FROM the victory Jesus already won!
That's enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You that the Law is OBSOLETE and I am FREE!
I refuse to live under an expired covenant when You’ve given me a better one! A better covenant with better promises!
I declare that I wake up under grace, not under the pressure to perform!
My value is not determined by my performance! I am valuable because I am Your child, and You called me by name!
When I fail, I receive forgiveness and move forward without condemnation!
My excellence flows from grace, not from fear!
I overcome sin by accessing Your power, not by trying harder in my flesh!
I am living the Grace Life in EVERY area, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
