Discovering Destiny (Part 13): If You’re Still Waiting On God, Watch This

Today, we continue our focus on THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, as we learn to maintain our posture of faith after God has revealed His plans for our future.
Last Wednesday, in our “Discovering Destiny” series, we watched Moses obey God perfectly and get punished for it. Pharaoh said NO; the burdens grew heavier; the people turned on their deliverer; and Moses took his discouragement straight to God. God answered him with a promise: “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh.” Today we find out what they saw because the God who let it get harder right before the breakthrough is the same God who had the breakthrough on His calendar the whole time.
Key scriptures for this year:
2 Peter 3:18 GNT“But continue to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever.”
Luke 10:20 Mirror“It’s time for you to rediscover who you are from Heaven’s perspective.”
1 John 3:10 Mirror“There is a very visible and vast difference between living one’s life from your God identity or from a fallen man’s mindset.”
Proverbs 25:2 NKJV“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Scripture we will study today:
Exodus 6:6 ERV“So tell the Israelites that I say to them, ‘I am the Lord. I will save you. You will no longer be slaves of the Egyptians. I will use my great power to make you free, and I will bring terrible punishment to the Egyptians.'”
Exodus 12:31 ERV“So that night Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said to them, ‘Get up and leave my people. You and your people can do as you say. Go and worship the Lord.'”
Exodus 12:41 ERV“After 430 years, to the very day, all the armies of the Lord left Egypt.”
Supporting scriptures:
Exodus 6:7 ERV“You will be my people and I will be your God. I am the Lord your God, and you will know that I made you free from Egypt.”
Exodus 12:32 ERV“Take all of your sheep and cattle with you, just as you said you would. Go! And say a blessing for me too.”
Exodus 12:36 ERV“The Lord caused the Egyptians to be kind to the Israelites, so the Egyptians gave their riches to the Israelites.”
Psalm 139:16 TPT“You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.”
Setting the Stage:
When we left Moses, he was at the lowest point of his assignment. He had obeyed God, and everything got worse. Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord?” The people said, “May the Lord judge you for what you did.” And Moses said, “Lord, why did You even send me?” That is where the last message ended. But that is not where the story ends.
God told Moses, “Now you will see what I will do.” And then God did it. Ten rounds of pressure landed on Egypt, and at midnight, the same Pharaoh who threw Moses out of his court called for him by name and begged the people to leave. 430 years of slavery ended in one night. And the Holy Spirit made sure Moses wrote down one detail I do not want you to miss: they left “to the very day.” The breakthrough was not late. It was scheduled.
So, what does this mean for you today? A few things.
1. When God Says “I Will,” It Is Already Done.
Look at how God answered Moses’ discouragement. He did not give Moses an explanation, a timeline, or a strategy session. He gave Moses His name and a stack of promises. Exodus 6 reads like a covenant scroll: I will save you. I will use my great power to make you free. I will bring punishment on your enemies. I will lead you. I will give you the land. Notice that not one of those statements required anything from Pharaoh. When God says “I will,” the outcome no longer depends on the person opposing you.
How this applies to you:
— Exodus 6:6 ERV says, “I am the Lord. I will save you… I will use my great power to make you free.” God signed the promise with His own name. The guarantee behind the promise is the character of the One making it.
— God’s answer to Moses’ “Why?” was not an explanation. It was a promise. God does the same with us.
— Pharaoh’s cooperation was never part of the plan. God’s promises do not need the permission of the person opposing you. God is more than capable of doing what He needs to do, whether others cooperate or not.
— Exodus 6:7 ERV says, “You will be my people and I will be your God… and you will know that I made you free.” God did not just want them out of Egypt. He wanted them to know who brought them out. Some things God does in your life are designed to settle, once and for all, who your Source is.
— What God promises, God performs.
— Between the promise and the performance, your only job is to keep believing THAT He will do it. You must keep your eyes on HIM!
— Stop reading your circumstances to find out what God will do. Read His Word and spend time with the Holy Spirit. The circumstances were screaming “NO” to Moses. But God’s promise said “YES.” Guess what? The promise won for Moses, and it will win for you, too, if you believe and don’t give up.
2. God Can Change The Confession Of Your Opposers – The Same Mouth That Said “NO” Will Say “GO.”
In Exodus 5, Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord? I don’t even know who this Lord is, so I refuse.” In Exodus 12, that same Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron at midnight and said, “Get up and leave my people… Go and worship the Lord.” And then the man who mocked God’s name added one more line that should make you give God praise: “And say a blessing for me too.”
How this applies to you:
— Exodus 12:31 ERV says, “So that night Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron.” The door Moses could not open from the outside, God opened from the inside.
— The same mouth that said NO to you will one day say GO.
— Exodus 12:32 ERV records Pharaoh saying, “Go! And say a blessing for me too.” Your opposition can become so convinced of God’s hand on your life that they ask you to pray for them.
— When you discover your purpose, and you walk into it by faith, do not be surprised when the people who fought your assignment end up requesting your blessing.
— The Egyptians did not just release them; Exodus 12:36 ERV says the Egyptians “gave their riches to the Israelites.” They walked out of 430 years of slavery carrying silver and gold. When God ends a season, He can make sure you do not leave empty-handed.
— This is exactly what God said would happen. In Exodus 6:1, God told Moses that Pharaoh would be so ready for them to leave that “he will force them to go.” God predicted the reversal before the first plague fell.
— God does not need your enemy to like you, to bless you.
— If you are staring at a person, a system, or a situation that has told you NO over and over, remember this: Pharaoh was the most powerful man on the planet at the time, and his power was no match for God. Remember the next time you face someone who opposes your purpose.
3. Your Breakthrough Has A Date On It.
Here is the detail that ties this whole series together. Exodus 12:41 ERV says, “After 430 years, to the very day, all the armies of the Lord left Egypt.” To the very day. Not roughly four centuries. Not sometime around then. To the day. While Israel was making bricks and wondering if God had forgotten them, heaven was keeping a calendar. The deliverance that felt overdue from inside the brick pits was actually running exactly on schedule.
How this applies to you:
— Psalm 139:16 TPT says the number of your days was “already recorded in your book” before you had seen the light of day. If your days are written in a book, then your breakthroughs are in there too, with dates attached.
— Heaven keeps time to the very day.
— From inside the hardship, God’s timing almost always feels late. From heaven’s side, He has never been late one time.
— 430 years of bondage ended in a single night. Do not judge how long the exit will take by how long the captivity has lasted. God can turn it around for you in a moment.
— Your entire life can change by just one move on God’s chessboard for your life.
— Notice they did not leave as a mob of escaped slaves. Exodus 12:41 calls them “the armies of the Lord.” While they were bowing under Pharaoh’s burdens, God saw an army in formation. God has a name for you on the other side of your breakthrough, and He has been calling you by it the whole time, even though you can’t see it at the time. You must get to the point where you believe what God believes about you!
— Your delay is not a denial. Your date is already set.
— I know some of you have been waiting so long that you have quietly downgraded the promise. But please do not diminish the dream because of the pain of the wait. If anything, the wait tells you the promise is worth guarding until the date arrives.
4. Moses Discovered His Destiny By Staying In Position.
One last thing before we leave this scene. Between Pharaoh’s first NO and the midnight GO, what exactly was Moses’ job? He did not break Pharaoh’s will. He did not send one plague by his own power. His entire assignment between the promise and the performance was to keep showing up and keep saying what God told him to say. Ten times he walked back into a court that had already rejected him. That is what discovering your destiny looks like in real life. It is rarely one dramatic moment. It is one obedience at a time, repeated until the date arrives.
How this applies to you:
— Moses’ only weapon in Egypt was obedience. God handled everything else. There is a major lesson here for us.
— You do not have to break your Pharaoh. You just have to keep showing up.
— Discovery is not a one-time event. Moses discovered his destiny at the bush, but he walked it out one hard conversation at a time. You will discover God’s plan for your life the same way, step by step, not all at once.
— Exodus 12:42 ERV says that on the night they left, “the Lord watched over them to bring them safely out of Egypt.” On the biggest night of their lives, God was watching over them HIMSELF! He did send angels. God was on WATCH HIMSELF! Guess what? He will watch over your exit too. Jeremiah 1:12 says that God WATCHES OVER His Word to perform it.
— Eighty years of preparation. One night of exodus. Do not despise the long stretch where nothing seems to move, because the preparation is part of the plan.
— If God gave you an assignment and the door has not opened yet, stay in position. The worst thing you can do between the promise and the performance is walk off the field before midnight.
— The people who see God’s “I will” become “It is done” are the people who are still standing there when it happens.
That’s enough for today.
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I thank You that every “I WILL” You have spoken over my life is signed with Your name!
What You promised, You will perform!
My breakthrough does not depend on the person opposing me!
The same mouth that said NO to me will say GO!
The ones who fought my assignment will end up asking for my blessing!
I will not leave my hard season empty-handed!
My breakthrough has a date on it, and heaven keeps time to the very day!
My delay is not a denial; my date is already set in Your book!
I will stay in position, one obedience at a time, until midnight comes!
This is THE YEAR OF DISCOVERY, and GREATER IS COMING FOR ME!
I declare this by faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
This is Today’s Word. Apply it and prosper!
